The Amtrak Office of Inspector General seeks seasoned professionals from the accountability community to join our team in becoming a model OIG. Amtrak OIG strives to ensure that Amtrak employees, customers, the public, and the Congress receive the highest quality service.

HOW TO APPLY

Step 1: USAJobs (required)

Submit an online profile and résumé attachment for the position(s) of interest to you and whose qualifications you meet by selecting Apply Online. 

 

 

Step 2: Amtrak Careers/Amtrak.com (required)

1) Go to the following link: https://careers.amtrak.com/irj/portal/anonymous. [NOTE: This is the Amtrak corporate website, which is separate from the OIG website, www.AmtrakOIG.gov.].

2) Click "Search For Your Career Opportunity"

3) Under Functional Area, click on 'Office of Inspector General', then click 'Start'

4) To cut and paste information within the Amtrak.com Careers application, use CTRL C to Copy and CTRL V to paste

5) Apply for the position

 

The Amtrak.com application involves two steps: (1) the Applicant Profile and then (2) the actual application process. A specific browser/version is needed to access Amtrak Careers/Amtrak.com: Internet Explorer (IE) version 7 or 8. The use of other browsers or alternate IE versions is not recommended, as it will likely impede a successful submission. 

 

Step 3 (optional): e-Mail

In addition to Steps 1 and 2, you may e-mail your resume to us at OIGHCM@AmtrakOIG.GOV. 

 

NOTES

Please allow at least 30 minutes to complete the application. The Amtrak.com website times out after 30 minutes of inactivity. If this happens, you will lose all data entered.

Once an application has been submitted for a specific position, iti s not possible to edit/update that specific application. Make sure that your contact information is accurate, and be sure to update your Profile when changes occur. 

Please submit your resume only in the application; other diocuments--such as cover letters, federal forms, diplomas, certifcations, etc.--will not be reviewed.

WHAT TO EXPECT NEXT

You will receive receipt confirmation e-mail messages from both USAJobs and Amtrak Careers/Amtrak.com following successful application submission. This is the only confirmation that you will receive. Please do not call or e-mail to confirm receipt.

Once your resume is received, we will evaluate your qualifications; the most highly qualified candidates will be referred to the hiring manager. We will contact you whether or not you are selected for an interview. 

The number of applicants is usually quite high; please do not follow up with us regarding the status of your application. You will be notified as soon as possible as to your standing.
